First steps if you lose your cat in Penzance

1
Search the immediate area very thoroughly first — a frightened cat usually hides silently within a few houses, not far away.
Tip from locals
Start with the small gardens close in: Morrab Gardens is about 0.2 miles away, Penlee Memorial Park 0.25 miles, and Eastern Green and Lariggan Gardens sit within 0.6 miles.
2
Go out again after dark with a torch: cats move once it is quiet, and their eyes reflect the light under cars, sheds and hedges.
Tip from locals
After dark, check the vegetation along the Chyandour Brook and the Larriggan River, about 0.5 and 0.6 miles away, and the edges of Penlee Memorial Park.
3
Ask neighbours to open garages, sheds and cellars — cats slip inside unnoticed and get shut in.
Tip from locals
The A30 at 0.6 miles and the A3071 at about 1.1 miles are busy roads that may keep a scared cat on one side, so ask neighbours on the town-centre side of them to open sheds and garages first.
4
Ask neighbours to check enclosed spaces again and share a recent photo with the last-seen place and time.
Tip from locals
Share the photo in Madron, about 1.6 miles to the north-west, Mousehole, around 2.5 miles to the south, and Marazion, about 2.7 miles to the east.
5
Report her to the shelter, nearby vets and the microchip registry, then start a targeted alert that reaches the whole neighbourhood at once.
