It is shown to the people who live and get around near the spot where your cat was last seen – within 1 mi of West Ham, that's about 140,000 people. The alert goes live within 60 minutes. Anyone who spots your cat reports the sighting on your search page, and you get it by email straight away.
Check your home and the area around the escape point carefully. Look under cover and ask the people next door to check inside sheds and garages. A frightened cat may stay hidden without answering your calls.

If you lose a cat, Newham advises you to tell your microchip company if the cat is microchipped, check that your contact details are current, search hiding places, ask neighbours to check sheds, garages and gardens, and give local vets and animal rescue centres a description of the cat. The council does not collect stray or lost cats. If you find a cat you believe may be stray, it directs you to the Celia Hammond Animal Trust’s advice.
