Yes. A Public Spaces Protection Order for Aberdare Public Park, made by Rhondda Cynon Taf council and in force from 1 October 2026 for three years, requires dogs to be kept on a lead at all times in the park. Authorised officers can issue a fixed penalty notice to anyone who breaks the order.

Outside weekday office hours the council's out-of-hours line takes stray dog reports, and the kennels take dogs from 5pm to 8pm Monday to Friday and from 8am to 8pm at weekends and on bank holidays. The Animal Warden does not collect strays outside normal working hours, so the finder takes the dog to the Hope Rescue kennels in Llanharan with a council reference number.
