Yes, if a dog is found during the dog warden's on-duty hours (8am to 5pm, every day except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day) and the owner is available, Cheshire West and Chester Council can deliver it home without taking it to kennels, for a reduced charge of £40. If the owner cannot be found or the dog keeps straying, it goes to the kennels and the standard fee applies, and proof of address is needed to collect it.
