In Devizes, Wiltshire Council's dog wardens collect stray dogs from 9am to 4pm on weekdays, and strays reported after 4pm are collected as soon as possible on the next working day. The wardens cannot come out to roaming or unrestrained dogs, so keep the dog secured in a safe place first, and the council says strays cannot be left at council offices. If you are unable to care for the dog until the next working day, the council's out-of-hours service will direct you to its holding kennels, or the council recommends finding your nearest 24-hour vet practice, which may be able to hold the dog for collection.
