City of Doncaster Council says a dog collected by its warden is taken to its boarding kennels (Flushdyke Boarding Kennels, Wakefield Road, Ossett). Owners must bring two forms of ID and proof of ownership, and pay a fixed £64.00 boarding fee plus a daily caring charge before the dog is returned (council page last updated July 2025). Dogs not collected within 7 days can be made available for re-homing.

In Doncaster you must first complete the council's Report a found dog form, which registers the dog on its database and gives you a reference number; without it the kennels may refuse to take the dog in. The dog wardens collect found dogs between 8am and 4pm Monday to Friday. If you keep the dog at home instead, you must tell the council and hold it for at least 28 days.
