Eastbourne's council takes lost and found dog reports through an online form on its website. For a found stray it asks for the breed, colour, size, sex and where and roughly when you found the dog; for a lost dog it asks about breed, colour, size, sex, where it went missing, its name, collar and ID tag, and whether it is microchipped. Outside office hours, the council's page gives 01323 410000 as the out-of-hours number for the Eastbourne area.

Under Eastbourne's local dog control orders, dogs must be on a lead along the seafront promenades from Holywell to Langney Point from 1 May to 30 September, although the council says they need not be on a lead on the Western and Middle Parades as long as no one is inconvenienced. Lead-only applies all year round at Sovereign Harbour (Southern Marina), Manor Gardens, Motcombe Gardens, the lakeside area of Hampden Park and Princes Park, Howard Square, Wilmington Square, and some other sites. The council's page lists a fixed penalty of £75 for offences.
