For Staveley, we list Chesterfield Animal Rescue. Address: 3 Loundes Road, Unstone, S18 4DE. Call before you go and ask about animals brought in recently.
Chesterfield Borough Council's Environmental Protection team collects found dogs from 9am to 3.30pm, Monday to Friday. A dog reported after 3.30pm is collected the next working day, and the council has no 24-hour stray dog service, so you cannot take the dog to the kennels yourself.

It may be possible to keep a stray dog you have found, if its owner does not claim it. Chesterfield Borough Council can complete a 'retained by finder' form, but you must still report the dog to the council. You are then responsible for the dog for 28 days; if the owner claims it within that period you must hand it over, and if nobody comes forward ownership transfers to you after 28 days.
