First steps if you lose your cat in Warren

  1. 1

Search the immediate area very thoroughly first — a frightened cat usually hides silently within a few houses, not far away.

    Tip from locals

Start with Veterans Memorial Park, about 0.3 miles away, then Rinke Park at around 0.9 miles and Memorial Park at about 1.1 miles, all small green spaces to search.

  2. 2

Go out again after dark with a torch: cats move once it is quiet, and their eyes reflect the light under cars, sheds and hedges.

    Tip from locals

After dark, check the vegetation along Bear Creek, about 1.7 miles away, and the edges of East Lake, around 1.7 miles, where a cat can lie low.

  3. 3

Ask neighbours to open garages, sheds and cellars — cats slip inside unnoticed and get shut in.

    Tip from locals

I 696 at about 0.1 miles and M 53 at around 0.7 miles usually keep a scared cat on one side, so ask neighbors on the near side of them first.

  4. 4

Ask neighbours to check enclosed spaces again and share a recent photo with the last-seen place and time.

    Tip from locals

Share the photo in Center Line, about 0.8 miles south-west, Eastpointe, around 3.3 miles south-east, and Fraser, about 4.7 miles north-east.

  5. 5

Report her to the shelter, nearby vets and the microchip registry, then start a targeted alert that reaches the whole neighbourhood at once.

    Tip from locals

Three vet practices lie within about 3 miles, so call them and the microchip registry, then start a targeted alert.
